Test winner: the Posture Lift, here in nude

Clothing test · October 2026

A bra that looks like a top. What do you wear over it?

  • 5 testers
  • cups B to DD
  • ages 29 to 54
  • 25 combinations

Bought for your shoulders. Then you're standing at the closet.

Most women don't buy this bra for how it looks. By five o'clock your shoulders are up around your neck, or you notice at your desk that you keep sinking lower. Then it arrives, and only then do you see how differently it's built: wide shoulder panels, a high neckline and a wide band around your ribs.

So we looked at what you can wear over it. Five women, cups B to DD, ages 29 to 54. Every bra went under five things that hang in any closet: a white T-shirt, a silk blouse, an open blazer, a spaghetti-strap top and a sports shirt. Can you see anything? And if you can, is that fine, as a top?

Under clothes, two bras did equally well. Which one ended up on top came down to something you can't see.

“I bought it for my neck. Now I wear it under my blazer.”
Tester 2, 34C, age 41

What did you see, and could it be seen?

Five testers, every bra under every piece of clothing. Checked in daylight, from the front, from the side and with arms raised.

Under the spaghetti-strap top, you just see the Posture Lift's wide shoulder panels. Under an open blazer, that's the whole idea: there, it is the top.

The final score counts two things: what you saw under clothes, and how back and shoulders felt after a workday.

Posture Lift

Best for back and shoulders 2026

  • Seamless cups, no underwire
  • A flat hook strip in the back for your size, the band in front for the support
  • 6 sizes, S to 3XL, cups A to DD, 3 colors
  • Under a spaghetti-strap top you see the wide shoulder panels

Final score

9.3/10

Daily Essential

Daily Essential

$39.95$29.95 per bra in a 3-Pack

  • 3-inch-wide band that carries the weight from below
  • Nothing to see under the white T-shirt, the blouse and the sports shirt
  • Seamless, no lace edge and no underwire
  • 12 sizes, S to 3XL+, cups B to H: the pick from a DDD/F cup up
  • It stays a bra: under an open blazer it doesn't work as a top

Final score

8.9/10

Marlies Dekkers lace plunge bra

Marlies Dekkers lace plunge bra

$119.95

  • Beautiful lace: under an open blazer, it's meant to be seen
  • Nice for B and C cups
  • Under the T-shirt and the blouse, the lace showed through the fabric
  • Narrow band: from a D cup up, the weight hangs on your shoulders

Two closures. In the back, a flat strip with hooks: that sets your size. The wide band runs from the back around your ribs and closes right under your breasts: that sets the support. Here in leopard, from the back.

Why the Posture Lift came out on top

Under clothes it tied with number 2. At five in the afternoon, it didn't.

  • What the testers felt

With a regular bra, the weight of your breasts hangs on two straps, and they slowly pull your shoulders forward. With the Posture Lift, a wide band around your ribs carries that weight. You tighten it yourself in front, as snug as you like, and the shoulder panels only have to stay in place. The band carries the weight. Your shoulders don't have to do anything. Tester 4 (36D, age 36) sits at a screen all day. After a week she wrote: "At four o'clock I'm still sitting up straight. Before, by that time I was half draped over my keyboard."

  • What do you wear over it?

Under a blouse, an open blazer or a sports shirt, nobody saw a thing. Under the white T-shirt, two testers saw a faint line where the band starts, if they looked closely. Under a spaghetti-strap top you see the wide shoulder panels, that's how it's built. Wear a lot of thin straps? Pick a top with wider straps, or just let it show.

  • Putting it on

Close the back firmly first, then pull it over your head. Stand up straight for a moment and then fasten the band in front, as snug as feels good. If the back is too loose, the band pulls it up and it starts to roll. The first time takes a few minutes.

  • Choosing your size

The Posture Lift runs from S to 3XL, for cups A to DD and band sizes 32 to 44. The size chart is on Monavida's website. Wear a DDD/F cup or bigger? Look at number 2: the Daily Essential goes all the way up to an H cup.

  • Guarantee

30-day perfect fit guarantee. Wrong size? Exchange it. Don't want to keep it? Send it back and get your money back.

What the testers said

After two weeks, in their own words. These are testers, not buyers: the Posture Lift is too new for a pile of reviews.

“The first time, putting it on took five minutes. Now it takes thirty seconds.”
Tester 134B, age 29
“With the white shirt I could see the edge of the band if I looked closely. My husband didn't see a thing.”
Tester 538DD, age 54
“For the first time in ages, I don't take my bra off the second I get home.”
Tester 336C, age 47

Where can you buy the Posture Lift?

Only on Monavida's own website. That's also where you get the 30-day perfect fit guarantee. Take more than one and each bra costs less: $34.95 in a 2-Pack, $29.95 in a 3-Pack. That's $89.85 for three, and shipping is free.

Can I really wear it as a top?

Under an open blazer or cardigan, or for a workout, our testers simply did. It comes in black, nude and leopard. Under a top with thin straps, you will see the wide shoulder panels.

How do I put it on?

Close the back firmly first, then pull it over your head. Stand up straight and then fasten the band in front. If the back is loose, the band pulls it up.

I wear a DDD/F cup or bigger. Now what?

Then the Daily Essential is the better pick: it goes up to an H cup. The Posture Lift goes up to a DD.

What if it doesn't fit?

Then you exchange it for another size within 30 days. That's covered by the 30-day perfect fit guarantee.

The test winner, now $29.95 per bra in a 3-Pack

Three Posture Lifts for $89.85. Black, nude and leopard, or three of the same. Wrong size? Then you exchange it.

I bought one myself this summer, for my shoulders. At first I mostly found it awkward that it looks like a top: what do you wear over it? That's where this test came from.

My spaghetti-strap tops are still in the closet. I wear them on days my shoulders don't need it. There are just fewer of those days now.
